Expertise in Food Chemistry
Rubén Torregrosa started his studies in Technical Agricultural Engineering and specialised in Agrarian and Food Industries at the University of Girona (Catalonia, Spain) and finished them at the Barcelona School of Agricultural Engineering – ESAB, Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (Catalonia, Spain), with an Engineering Degree Thesis focused in optimizing analytical methods of several additives in soft drinks by capillary electrophoresis.
After that, he accomplished his degree in Food Science and Technology and a Postgraduate Diploma of Advanced Research at the University of Lleida (Catalonia, Spain), where he also started and completed his PhD in Food Chemistry at the Chemistry Department granted by the Generalitat de Catalunya (Regional Government of Catalonia), working with biocatalysts in chemoenzymatic methods for the reactive extraction of oilseeds for the preparation of monoglycerides.
Rubén works as Technical and R&D Project Manager in GPPW since 2014, where he is responsible of the technical team. There, he designs new biostimulant and fertilizers and assess costumers in plant nutrition issues.
As a part of his job in GPPW, he has been focused in technology transfer from Universities and Research Centres and he has over 7 years of experience in managing R&D funded projects (Horizon 2020-EU, INNPACTO-Spain Government) related to the valorisation of by-products and the development of new molecules for application in plant nutrition.
He also works as associated professor at the Chemistry Department of the University of Lleida since 2007, teaching Food Chemistry and Physics, Food Additives and Organic Chemistry.
